The City of Atlanta proper falls into 2 counties Fulton and DeKalb County.

 

For the most part the region is referred to in four main categories :

 

NorthWest Counties: Cherokee, Cobb, Douglas and Paulding

NorthEast Counties: Gwinett, Hall DeKalb and Rockdale

North Counties: North Fulton, Fulton and Forsyth

Metro Counties: Coweta, Clayton, Fayette Henry and South Fulton

The main highway surrounding greater atlanta area is often referred to as the" perimeter" or I-285.

"spaghetti Junction" is the interchange of  I-285 and I-85

I-400 is a Toll road between I-285,  I-85 and I-75

 

 

 

**TIP** Get a Peach Pass to pre-pay tolls and don't wait in line! Visit  PEACH PASS and don't make the same mistake I did and wait in the long line...order it online or if you go to the DMV to get it most have a separate table set up so you don't have to wait with everyone getting their license.
